Isipathana clinch Zahira Rugby Sevens Title

Isipathana College clinched the Rugby Sevens organized by the Zahira College Group of sixties at the Zahira College Grounds on Saturday by beating hosts Zahira College by 41 points (three goals, four tries) to nil in the finals after leading 17 - 0 at the breather.

In the semi-finals, Isipathana beat Prince of Wales by 36 - 7 while Zahira overcame Sarawak Combined Schools, Malaysia in extra time after the scores stood 19 all at the final whistle. Ranindu Pramodh of Isipathana was adjudged the best player for scoring four tries in the finals. Leading local schools in rugby and a foreign schools participated in this tournament.

The participaing schools were Isipathana College, Thurstan College, Lalith Athulathmudali College, Prince of Wales College, Royal College Panadura, St. Benedict's College, Veluwana Vidyalaya, Carey College, C.W.W. Kannangara Vidyalaya, Royal College Colombo , Zahira College and IM Sarawak Combined Schools in Malaysia.

Bowl Final Royal College Panadura beat St. Benedict College 17 - 7 Plate Final Thurstan College beat Royal College 15 - 12 Cup Final Isipathana College beat Zahira College 41 - 0 in this tournament.

Yasir Shah banned for 3 months

Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has been banned for three months after pleading guilty for a failed dope test last year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said Sunday.“Shah has been suspended from all cricket-related activities for three months after pleading guilty to breaching Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code,” said the ICC in a release.
“Shah had provided a urine sample as part of the ICC’s random in-competition testing programme after the conclusion of the one-day international between England and Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, UAE on 13 November 2015.
“His sample was subsequently tested and found to contain chlortalidone. This is classified as a “Specified Substance” under World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List and is prohibited both in-competition and out-of-competition.”
Shah has emerged as a match-winner for Pakistan in Tests after ace spinner Saeed Ajmal lost form due to having to remodel an illegal bowling action.
“Shah admitted the violation and a three-month suspension has been imposed, backdated to 27 December 2015, the day when he was provisionally suspended. Shah will, therefore, be eligible to return to cricket on 27 March 2016.”
ICC said it accepted that the doping offence had been inadvertent on the part of Shah as the medication had been taken “for therapeutic reasons, specifically to treat his blood pressure.
“He was able to satisfy the ICC through evidence and submissions prepared on his behalf by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that he had no intention to enhance his sporting performance or to mask the use of another performance enhancing substance.

“He had, instead, mistakenly taken his wife’s blood pressure medication that was identical in appearance to his own but which contained the prohibited substance chlortalidone.”

Barca equal unbeaten record

Barcelona equalled a club record of 28 games unbeaten to move three points clear at the top of La Liga with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Levante on Sunday.

The European champions were far from their best in coach Luis Enrique’s 100th game in charge, but David Navarro’s own goal and Luis Suarez’s strike in stoppage time was enough to secure a 10th consecutive win in all competitions.
Barca now lead Atletico Madrid by three points and have a game in hand on Diego Simeone’s men.

Third-placed Real Madrid are now seven points adrift of Barca, but can cut the gap when they travel to Granada later on Sunday.

Fresh from hitting Gary Neville’s Valencia for seven in the Copa del Rey in midweek, Barca started with purpose and should have been ahead inside two minutes when Lionel Messi was wrongly flagged offside as he slotted home from Andres Iniesta’s pass.

Neymar then had a fine curling effort beaten to safety by Diego Marino.

However, Barca needed a slice of luck to open the scoring on 21 minutes as Jordi Alba burst down the left and his ball into the box was deflected into his own net by Navarro.

Barca’s star front three of Suarez, Messi and Neymar were kept for long periods, but they nearly combined for a brilliant second moments later when Messi picked out Neymar and his driven cross was turned just wide by Suarez.

Levante remain rooted to the foot of the table, but had won their previous two home games and deserved to be at least level at the break as they outplayed the Catalans in the latter stages of the first-half.

Verza fired a free-kick inches over before Jefferson Lerma had a great chance to level when he skewed horribly wide with just Claudio Bravo to beat.
Jose Luis Morales came closest to equalising when his low effort came back off the post eight minutes before the break.

Levante continued to enjoy the better of the game in the second period, but found clear-cut chances hard to come by as former Manchester United forward Giuseppe Rossi’s shot from outside the box was the only time Bravo was forced into action.

Barca had barely threatened themselves after half-time, but did seal the points deep into stoppage time on the counter-attack as Messi picked out an unmarked Suarez to fire home his 35th goal of the season.

Identities of the victims could not be known yet. 
Gazipur fire service deputy assistant director Md Aktaruzzaman said four people were burnt to death while five others got injured in the tyre boiling factory. 
The injured were sent to Shahid Tajuddin Medical College Hospital, Aktaruzzaman added.
